Child Safety Statement

Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. We have zero tolerance for child abuse.

We work closely with schools, industry and the community to provide safe and inclusive opportunities for young people. All children, regardless of gender, age, ability, culture, religion or background, have the right to feel and be safe.

WSMLLEN complies with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and supports a culture of child safety through leadership, policy, training, and continuous improvement. We are committed to:

  • Listening to and empowering children and young people;

  • Ensuring the cultural safety of Aboriginal children;

  • Respecting the diverse needs of children from all backgrounds and abilities;

  • Carefully selecting and screening staff, contractors and volunteers; inlcuding requiring current Working with Children Checks before and during employment;

  • Providing clear expectations through our Child Safety Code of Conduct;

  • Taking all concerns or allegations of abuse seriously, and responding in line with legal and policy requirements.

Our Executive Officer is the nominated Child Safety Officer and can be contacted with any concerns.
