Notes

Hopetoun P-12 College is a new school formed by the merger of Hopetoun Primary School and Hopetoun Secondary College. It is situated in the well-serviced Southern Mallee township of Hopetoun. The College has a current enrolment of 100 Foundation to Year 12 students , 31 Primary and 69 secondary. Students are drawn from Hopetoun and the surrounding communities of Beulah, Patchewollock, Lascelles and Woomelang. All students are now co-located on the Dodgshun St campus. The predominant industry is dry land agriculture and associated services.

Hopetoun Primary School and Hopetoun Secondary College have proud traditions of providing opportunities to meet the academic, technical, sporting, physical, social and cultural needs of their students and the merged College builds on those traditions. It will provide an environment that values achievement, participation and performance, valuing the personal qualities of respect, excellence, teamwork and resilience. The Parent’s Club and School Council are actively involved in and support these values and school programs.

The College provides curriculum access to all Domains of the Victorian Curriculum. A strong focus is placed on developing competency in literacy and numeracy to provide students with both the skills and confidence to become active participants in their learning. Curriculum access and student learning continue to be supported by a well developed welfare program, including a chaplain. The College’s size allows for small classes and the ability to meet individual student needs. Both sites are well resourced by teaching and education support staff. Senior Secondary students have enhanced access to subjects through the school’s active involvement in the Wimmera Virtual School, the Southern Mallee Cluster and VET and VCAL provision. There are excellent ICT resources, supported by our own technician and multiple Video Conferencing systems to open up more opportunities to our students. Sporting and outdoor activities are an integral part of the College’s daily life; the school has a modern gymnasium, excellent sports grounds, sail-boats and canoes for student use.

We are heavily involved in implementing the School Wide Positive Behaviour Program based around our core values of respect, responsibility and teamwork.
